Ask HN: Is it possible to study 5 hrs besides 9-6 on-premise IT job?

I have a huge task at my hand. It's winter and I am totally unable to wake up early. I've bought a oil heater which has helped me a lot. But IDK how can I turn it on in the morning and make the room warmer automatically.

I have really hard time waking up early in the morning. I want to do something in life. I feel quite tired after office even though there is not a lot of work that I do...

Any guidance will be appreciated. Earlier in summer, I was studying 3hrs/day on average productiviely(with 9-6). Now, it's like not evne 45 minutes.

I would not be able to sustain more than a single academic course while working a 9-6 onsite IT job.

I was able to keep up with an upper division undergraduate Maths class on a 30 hour per week IT job. The course was very challenging for me but quite rewarding. Homework took at least ten hours per week.

In general, less energy during seasons of less sunlight is not at all unusual.

If there’s not a lot of work that you do, you can be sneaking some study time during office hours hopefully.

You may need to make some sacrifices to achieve your goals, but I’m sure you’ll be glad you did.

I work fewer hours than you and am still pretty braindead after work. That sounds like a really tough thing to do :/

Are oil heaters common where you live? Is there no way to use an electric one with a timer instead? Or go to a library? Not sure if there's a big cultural difference at play here.

Heating is absolutely uncommon in kathmandu. People depend on sunlight for warmth and when no sunlight, no warmth. They live in cold place. SInce no heating, very very cold. I think I will go to a library(I've to pay 5K/month for AC equipped library)....I know culture no difference.
